why do game publishers for pc constantly seem set out to hurt their customers?

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/news/t ... _awful_drm

i understand them wanting to curb piracy but unless you just don't make the game or shut down the internet any and everything you do will not be enough to stop piracy. key thing publishers should realize about their products, people who buy games will still buy games as long as you don't treat them as though they are the ones pirateing. also thing to remember people who will pirate will continue to pirate... its a simple concept. doing things like this will just only piss people off, and they lose customers.

the more casual gamer/pc user won't notice/care but for your average/hardcore gamer/pc user they will notice and be pissed off. also doing stuff like what they did for gta IV where you had to make two accounts and always be signed in just to save progress i mean come on. whatever happened to just installing the game and saving old fashion way. i could care less for achievments i can get etc etc i just want to play and save the game.

i wonder if its just the fact that the focus for gaming seems to dieing out for pc and publishers focusing more on console gaming. take MW2 for example. its just a crapy console port. its was gonna be a normal fps with all the normal pc fps features but they pulled the bait and switch at the last moment.
